Popular celebrity and entrepreneur, Andrea De Cruz,
may have retired from the limelight but she still radiates
star quality with her glowing skin and lustrous locks.
As a popular TV personality
and host, there must be intense
pressure to look good. Can
you share with us your beauty
regime?
I always cleanse my face to rid of all make
up no matter how tired I am. We often look
for short cuts in life but I’ve come to realise
that if you want to look good throughout the
years, then you have to put in the effort! I
make sure I cleanse, tone and moisturise, not
forgetting a serum as well as a neck and eye
cream in between.
You are now the owner of a
hair salon called CINQ which
currently has two outlets, one
at Telok Ayer and a new one
at Scotts Square, why did
venture into the hair
business?
I had an excellent hairstylist
who became a dear friend
over time. Shortly after my
liver transplant in May
2002, I decided to take a
back seat when it came
to TV and work on a
business that would
be more beneficial to
my health, so after
discussions with my
hairstylist friend, we
decided to start CINQ!
Can you share
with us some
tips to keep our
locks in tip-top
shape?
Treat your scalp to a deep
cleanse regularly. A lot of
people have hair loss problems or
unhealthy hair because they are not
educated about the fact that the scalp
is where the root of all problems begins. If your
hair pores are clogged, you will probably have
hair loss problems.
Congratulations, this year
also marks the 10th year
anniversary of your liver
transplant! Wellness must be a
top priority for you. How do you
maintain a healthy lifestyle?
Yes, this is such a milestone! I’m very happy that
I’ve come this far. I maintain a healthy lifestyle
by hitting the gym three times a week for a
combination of power plate and circuit training.
It is the best workout ever as it is time saving
with maximum benefits!
With so many things on your
plate, how do you unwind?
With a good book…I aim to do absolutely
nothing on Sundays except spend time with my
two puppies and a well-penned novel.
Do you indulge in spa
treatments? What is a must-do
for you?
Having well polished and manicured toenails
are a must for me. Call it an obsession
but I never leave them unpolished. I truly
believe that having beautiful feet make a
woman sexier!
What do you think of
aesthetic treatments and have
you done any?
I think aesthetic treatments are a
must in this day and age. With
the sun’s UV rays causing premature
ageing, I regularly go
for FPL sessions to rid of
spots from sun damage
and blotchy skin. These
treatments are also
excellent for lifting
and firming the face
contours. There’s
only so much we can
do through exercise,
and gravity sure plays
a part in the ageing
process, so if there
are options out there
that can help us look
good, why not?
Do you have any
treatments you
would like
to try and why?
I’m always curious about new
techniques or procedures but am too
chicken to try them out especially if they are
invasive since I absolutely hate the after effects
of waking up from GA.
Would you ever do plastic
surgery?
No, I feel blessed that God has given me the
face that I have, and I wouldn’t want to mess
with it.
Complete this sentence,
“Beauty to me is…”
More than skin deep, it radiates from every fiber
in your body. If you love well, live well and are
generous in all aspects of your life, then truly
can you be beautiful!
