SILKPEEL combines precision exfoliation with dermal infusion. Similar to microdermabrasion, it uses a diamond treatment head to exfoliate, combined with the delivering of topical dermaceutical treatment at controlled intensity. Suitable for all skin types, it has the ability to stimulate skin to produce collagen by removing surface abnormalities and allowing better penetration of prescribed skin treatments. Additional improvement is obtained with the application of specific treatment solutions, ranging from hydrating, bleaching, oil control and acne.

“A lot of my patients do this monthly to maintain their skin. When they have a special occasion, they combine this with a laser treatment like Revlite,” says Dr SM Yuen. “SilkPeel acts like a primer and also improves the results of laser treatments,” he adds.

My therapist first gave me a relaxing face and shoulder massage to ease me into the treatment. After she cleansed my face, Dr SM Yuen started the SilkPeel treatment, running a nozzle attached to a machine, across my face slowly. There was a slight sucking motion from the machine but it felt comfortable. He ran the nozzle twice over each area, focusing on the fine lines under my eyes and small bumps from a pimple outbreak above my lip. The process was over in 10 minutes. To finish off the treatment, my therapist gave me a pampering face and shoulders massage with Dr SM Yuen’s Rose-2 hydrating moisturiser, followed by another hydrating mask which was left on for 20 minutes to soothe my skin.

My face looked fairer and smoother immediately after treatment. There was also no redness and I was able to leave the clinic with just a layer of sunscreen.
